story
An unforgettable love story is hidden in a poem Marína by Andrej Sládkovič. Love for woman, love for life and the country. Most people know the epic story of love between Andrej and Marína. In this story, you can find desire and sadness at the same time. Our whole life with its ups and downs are hidden in this poem. It is not a fictional story, Andrej was writing the poem for years and just as each of us has changed over the years, so has his love for Marína. At the beginning he burns with desire, later he curses the moment when they met and praises the beauty and savagery of our country. Few people know that Andrej gave Marína a ring. When I found out, I decided to develop the jewellery symbolizing their fulfilling love. Forget-me-nots, as their name suggests, are flowers symbolizing an inseparable feeling. Often boys and girls gave this flower to their love so they would not forget about them. Out of love, so they would keep them in mind. I decided to create my version of what the ring for Marína might have looked like. Marína, with whom Andrej Sládkovič was in love, was known to like drawing, especially flowers and patterns. In addition to the poem Marína, Andrej Sládkovič also wrote his famous poem Detvan. The whole plot of Detvan takes place in the Podpoľanie region. It shows the beauty of our nation but also points out our mistakes. It reminds us of the importance of customs and traditions. During my summer tour de costume I stopped in Podpoľanie and in Očová, where I was very captivated by coats with beautiful embroidery , which resembled a bouquet of meadow flowers, with buds, hearts and flowers similar to forget-me-nots. I decided that this could be the right ornament to use when processing the theme of Marína. I carefully created the first ring and the other jewellery then found its way into the world through my imagination. I created the jewellery as if Marina herself had drawn it in ink and pencil. There is softness, coldness and love in them all at the same time. This jewellery is for all Marínas, because many of us can identify with the story that Marína experienced 177 years ago. Because people and love do not change, only the scenery around us does. This jewellery is dedicated to all the unforgettable contemporary Marínas.
